Rest In Peace Mr Jobs

Today, the world loses one of the most influential people in this couple of decades, Steve Jobs, the founder and former CEO of Apple, Inc (APPL). After his struggling against cancer for several years, which has become a good inspiration for other people with cancer, eventually passes away. It makes us realize that Steve Jobs is only a human being, like the rest of us.

This terribly sad news, although shocking, in fact has been anticipated by most people, maybe including by Mr. Jobs himself and other top-level management of Apple Inc. On August 24, 2011, Steve Jobs handed over his position as CEO of Apple to Tim Cook. This clever move may save Apple significantly. Although, I am sure Apple’s stock price will go down for a while after his death, it will get much much worse if he dies while he’s still the CEO.

As a human being, Steve Jobs has touched so many people in their life, from his family, friends, partners, competitors, customers, etc. He has revolutionized some industries, such as tech and entertainment industry. With his Macbook, iMac, ipod, iphone, ipad, Pixar, etc, he has brought something new and wonderful to the world.

No wonder, Steve Jobs’s death, makes a lot of people sad.

Here are some responds from the people who has been touched by Steve Jobs in their life Continue reading

GPRS : Overview and How It Works While Roaming

In these few days, my colleagues are busy about the plan to implement data roaming in our CDMA telecommunication network. It reminds me of my knowledge and experience on my previous company regarding this data network. Although it is GPRS technology, a different one than CDMA, i think it is useful to share an overview about what GPRS is and how it roams.

GPRS

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is a packet based communication service for mobile Devices that allows data to be sent and received across a mobile telephone network. GPRS is a step towards 3G and is often referred as 2.5G. Here are some key benefits of GPRS:

Amazon is on Fire: All New Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G, and Kindle Fire

As rumor spread on early of this month that Amazon will launch Amazon Kindle Tablet, just now, Amazon unveiled that it will launch four new products, not only the tablet. They are:

  1. All New Kindle, will be released on September 30, 2011.
  2. Kindle Touch, will be released on November 21, 2011.
  3. Kindle Touch 3G, will be released on November 21, 2011.
  4. Kindle Fire (the tablet), will be released on November 15, 2011.
As the Amazon Founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, said on his letter to customers which published on Amazon Homepage, Amazon is building premium products and offering them at non-premium prices. He said that Amazon is a company that work hard to charge customers less.

With this pricing strategy as the competitive advantage, I am sure Amazon products will be able to be a significant player in their target markets.

$79 for All New Kindle, $99 for Kindle Touch (wi-fi), and $149 for Kindle Touch 3G are undoubtedly will make Amazon as the market leader of e-reader gadget, which it already is, even before these new products launching.

$199 for Kindle Fire which can do almost anything that other tablets can, I think Amazon can be a serious player in the tablet market, which currently led by Apple’s iPad.
